Abstract

Evaluation of regional scenarios of ITS is very demanding when it comes to the capabilities of the modelling system. Important user requirements are possibilities to model large networks, dynamic effects, direct effects of information and control, several user classes with different characteristics, etc. Other important model features are flexibility, graphical user interface and validated algorithms. From a survey of existing models, the conclusion is that the current demand model should be enhanced by incorporating a departure time model, a parking model and a public transport information model. The regional assignment model should be linked to a more dynamic simulation-assignment model for detailed studies of smaller networks. Some interesting models are pointed out. There are also several interesting research projects in progress that should be studied further. (A)
