Abstract

A major restraint usage promotional campaign with the theme "There's No Excuse, So Belt Up" was conducted in Victoria between 7 June and 15 July 1989. The key messages were directed at both front and rear seat occupants including parents who allowed their children to travel unrestrained. Metropolitan Melbourne on-road exposure surveys and rural town surveys conducted "before" and "after" the campaign enabled campaign outcomes to be evaluated in terms of changes in restraint wearing rates.
