Abstract

An evaluation is reported of a new concept for providing advance warning of brake applications known as the Advance Braking Light Device (ABLD). The ABLD senses the rate at which the accelerator is released. If the rate is equal to or faster than apredetermined minimum it turns on the brake light for one second. In this way the brake lights are energized sooner than they would be normally.
