Abstract

This paper attempts to develop an evaluation framework for examining alternative alignments for an expressway corridor. The case study of Raipur-Durg expressway; a part of Chattisgarh Infrastructure Development Corporation's (CIDC's) project has been considered for the study. The objective of this study is to select the 'best feasible' option among the given alternative alignments. A number of criteria such as environmental, social, economic and traffic have been considered to arrive at the 'least impact' and hence the 'most sustainable' alternative.
