Evaluation and testing of protective headgear.

Abstract

Factors which must be considered in evaluating the performance of protective headgear are reviewed. Standards of performance are considered, and an analysis is presented of a number of techniques utilised in helmet testing. Special attention is given to tests for penetration resistance, retention harness strength, and protection against impact.
