Abstract

A belt test device (BTD) was evaluated as a means of rating the fit of seat belt based occupant restraint systems. The evaluation was made by comparing the results obtained from in car measurements on a group of human subjects with those obtained from the BTD. It was found that the BTD did fulfill the requirements of a test device capable of objectively rating belt fit, but there was need for further development of some aspects of this design.
