Abstract

Belt positioning booster seats are very effective at reducing the risk of serious injury to children between the ages four through seven years. In fact, booster seats have been shown to reduce this risk by 59% compared to safety belts alone. While misuse of infant carriers and toddler seats has been well documented, the specific modes of misuse associated with booster seats have received little attention. This study documents the most common misuses observed when children are transported in belt positioning booster seats. (Author/publisher)
