Abstract

The various evaluation procedures and their functions are first considered. Then, information transfer and its problems are discussed, with particular emphasis on the part played by researchers and journalists. The lack of safety professionals in the field is stressed. Finally, examples were given of national programmes designed as incentives for local safety action and difficulties for evaluating such programmes are described. (The paper is published in French and English and is a summary of discussions).
