In order to switch the car trips to the public transport, it is rational to encourage intermodal usage of transport, which is defined as the proper combination of various modes. However, it is not so easy, since there exist some hindrances to the intermodality. The principal hindrances are generally considered as follows: a) inconsistency among various modes with respect to services, information, and infrastructure, b) lack of users' appropriate recognition on the alternative modes, in particular on the public transport services. The Dynamic Park and Ride (DP&R) system, which gives drivers the P&R information combined with the travel time information both for road traffic and for public transport en route, can have a great potential of contribution for resolving or alleviating these problems. This is considered to be a typical application of the ITS technologies to the intermodality. The objective of this paper is evaluating the net effect of the DP&R information strategy, employing microscopic intermodal trip and traffic simulation model developed in this study.
