Abstract

The paper examines the curricula of American driver education courses and deals with the relatively large number of research studies made over the past decade in the field of driver education. Most of the literature is concerned with the difficulties attendant upon attempts to evaluate course effectiveness in terms of some criterion variable such as the number of reported accidents or traffic violations and relatively little effort has been put into the design and validation of training course curricula.
