Abstract

Ramp control and ramp metering were studied to improve freeway operations by eliminating ramp closure. A trial ramp control signal installation was evaluated. Public acceptance of the controls was good and the study indicates that the motorists are prepared to accept a freeway control system on a continuing basis.
