More than 300 towns on the Danish highway network experience difficulties with through traffic. In 1981 the "Main Road through towns- a Catalogue of Ideas" in which a new method was introduced, was published. Environmentally adapted through- roads on which priority is given to the environment, pedestrians and cyclists aimed at to reduce the feeling of insecurity and accident risk.
