Abstract

The implementation of in-vehicle information systems is investigated through various research programs all over the world. This paper presents an evaluation framework which is expected to be applied on a DSRC based communications system named AIDA (Application to Motorway Information). Currently, this programme is running within a consortium involving car manufacturers Renault and PSA, a motorway operator Cofiroute and toll equipment manufacturer CS Route. The objectives are to assess the system under different evaluation categories: technical, operational and socio-economic. These assessment levels are focused on end-users, road network managers, service operators and society. The first task of this work is to validate an ergonomic evaluation procedure on a concept called MRPI (Medium Range Pre Information). (A)
