Abstract

Sections of grooved and painted traffic stripes were evaluated for visibility under various conditions at three locations: a mountainous area with heavy snow, foothill area without snow and a flat terrain without snow in winter. It was concluded that a grooved stripe is not satisfactory in snow areas and that the raised marker type line is best in areas, where no snow is expected.
