Abstract

The Executive Summary, Volume I of a two volume documentation, summarizes the results of study to determine feasibility and appropriate evaluation schemes in a real-world environment for four Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS): FMVSS 301- Fuel Integrity; FMVSS 208- Occupant Protection; FMVSS 214- Side Door Strenght; and FMVSS 215- Exterior Protection. Based on a review of the literature, background material, specifications, compliance tests, and available evaluation methodologies, feasibility was established for the evaluation.
