Abstract

Advanced motorway control and signalling systems are very expensive. Logically, these systems have to be evaluated before a large scale application can be considered. Such evaluation studies should include, not only the technical operation of the systems, but also the external effects that can be achieved. In Holland such studies have been carried out for a system that was installed on two sides of our motorway system, with a total length of about 1090 km.
