Abstract

The bus or trolley stop is a form of mini terminal. The time required for passengers to board and alight from transit vehicles can account for a significant portion of their trip and can be the largest portion of the total trip delay time. Studies performed on boarding and alighting time requirements for various bus and trolley services are reported. Predictive equations are presented that were developed to estimate passenger service time requirements under various conditions.
