The methodology of evaluating the immediate condition and functional dependability of concrete pavements was worked out in the early nineties in the Road Research Laboratory of the Department of Highway Engineering, Slovak Technical University. The aim of the system described here is to evaluate the concrete pavement condition from the view-point of its serviceability, operational performance and functional dependability on the basis of visual condition surveys (defectoscopy) and measurements made by some diagnostic devices. The purpose of the designed evaluation is to provide the manager of the road network with information on the quality of the evaluated pavement, to signal the need of repair works, eventually reconstructions and to give basic information on the planning of road networks.
