Abstract
"RIDE" (Rduce Impaired Driving in Etobicoke) was a coun-ter-measure programme that was conducted in Etobicoke, oneof f ive Toronto police districts. The programma has beenbased on the concept of generaldeterrence-and involved twocomponents, enforcement (by means of random spot-checksand roadside breath-testing that was aimed at increasingsubjective and objective probabilities of risk apprehen-sion) and education. An evaluation of the programme is pre-sented and its results are discussed.
