Abstract

An evaluation of a prototype real time system that warns approaching motorists of stoppages downstream of crest type vertical curves is given. Before and after studies were conducted to measure primary and secondary accidents. The study results revealed that the warning system is cost-effective and that drivers believe the system to be useful.
