Abstract

Public Roads Administration in Oslo has established a system for automatic queue detection and warning. The purpose of the system is to avoid situations that can lead to accidents by decreasing speed before the road user catches up with a queue. SINTEF has been involved in the evaluation of the system. This paper describes the existing system and the evaluation of the system. The evaluation has been divided into two parts. One part evaluates the behaviour of the road user when they are warned about queue situations. The other part evaluates how well system warns about queue situations.
