Abstract

In part I the literature relating to the location of the anchorages and belt for both the lap and sash portions of the belt is reviewed. In part II experiments are described which are aimed at evaluating a number of seat belt installations, in current production vehicles for wearing comfort and convenience of use and positioning of the lap belt. Major improvements could be made by installation of retractor belts in rear seats and reduced maximum allowable retraction force.
