Abstract

This article reports an evaluation of injury-reducing effects of side-guard door beams on accident investigation reports. The evaluation considers two measures of effectiveness: (1) the mean injury severity recorded for the occupants, and (2) the degree of deformation in the door. In both cases, results show that it cannot be concluded that side-guard door beams produce an effect on injuries, or on door penetration.
