Abstract

Under a $NZ 7 million contract, Saab ITS Pty. Ltd of Australia is supplying and installing an intelligent transport system for public transport in Auckland City. The very complex technical aspects of this project challenged the contractor to tailor solutions that would meet the performance specification of the contract. This paper outlines the steps leading to the successful operation of the first stage of Auckland’s Signal Pre-emption and Real Time Passenger Information System (SP/RTPI), the evaluation of the system’s performance and the proposed roll out of the system across the Auckland Region.
