Abstract

This report analyzes motorcyclist injury data collected by the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) from 1978-1980. Head area injury rates were compared for NEISS-reporting states with and without a mandatory helmet use law. The States with a helmet law had significantly greater head area injury than the States with a helmet law.
