Abstract

An awareness of the limitations of vehicle forward lighting systems led to study a 3-beam 4-head-lamp system. Glare to drivers of opposing and preceding vehicles as well as improvements in visibility for the drivers of the 3-beam cars is considered. It is concluded that greater seeing distances were possible without excessive glare with the 3-beam system.
