Abstract

The traffic flow of a link between urban sub-areas is supposed to be disturbed and pulsate since the cycle time of the upstream intersection is different from that of the downstream intersection. The properties of such traffic flow, especially the effects on delays and stops, were studied. Knowledge of these properties is necessary to develop a new method to determine sub-area grouping which would minimize the delays and stops of the network. (A*)
