Abstract

The report reviews an experiment undertaken to examine the effectiveness of five sign treatments for controlling driver speeds in the vicinity of hazardous horizontal curves on rural two-lane highways. Signs examined ranged from the standard curve warning arrow to a regulatory speed zone sign in conjunction with a curve warning sign. Data collected during the experiment included both the following electronic and manual.
