The aim of this guide is to encourage parents to restrain their children in cars. Section one describes the hazards of travelling unrestrained, and illustrates how a child can be protected by the use of a suitable restraint system. The legal requirements for both the use and the type of restraint in cars, taxis and minibuses are also presented briefly. Section two gives information on the restraints now available in the United Kingdom, and describes where they can be obtained. The general fitting requirements are also explained. For convenience, restraints are classified according to a child's age and weight. Sources of further information and advice are listed in an appendix.
