Abstract

This paper describes how Australian standard 1954-1975 specifies a variety of restraint types for children ranging in the age from newly born to about 11 years. Restraints developed to meet the standard generally are forward facing types because conventional car layout does not permit adequate anchorage of other types. New specifications are at present practicable for child restraint.
