Abstract

The challenges of competitiveness and leadership but also the complexity of the problems to solve are major motives in favour of the development oftrans-national cooperation projects. Various initiatives such as those ofthe European Union have, for several years, had an important effect on the restructuring of the provision of research and of the reform of the expression of demand in the European environment. The first part of this session will focus on how the trans-national research areas structure themselves in the world and what is the remaining place for national research. The second part will deal with the actions of public support for innovation, and the removal of obstacles to the evaluation and dissemination of innovations. For the covering abstract see ITRD E139491.
