Abstract

A new concept on inter-vehicle communications is presented, which consists of tail lights of a preceding vehicle and a computer vision in a following vehicle. Detection of turning -on of the tail lights and the on-off the pattern of the tail lights with the computer vision will have a function of communications, and can tell the driver of the following vehicle about the behavior of the preceding vehicle. The feature of the system is the compatibility between the present system and the system proposed here. Some experiential results on the detection of tail lights will be also introduced.
