Abstract

1997 is the year of the launching of the first on-line data services of road information in Paris. Services at home, in the office or on-board vehicles, all the media are concerned: RDS-TMC, telephones, radio-telephones, pagers, minitel or internet. To obtain this result, a long period of discussion between public and private participants was necessary, followed by the creation and experimentation of the whole technical chain. The role of each participant was defined and an agreement protocol between public communities producing the information, the city of Paris and the State, defined the rules under which this information would be made available to service operators. Bilateral contracts between each information producer and service operator will define the specifications to be respected and a moderate tariff.
