Abstract

A review of more than 60 full-scale side impact tests using the EUROSID-1 dummy, according to the European Procedure, is presented. An analysis of instrumentation and results is carried out. The test configuration relating to the type of barrier, the barrier height, the seat positioning, and the test instrumentation is presented. From the full-scale side impact tests, a database has been created. A description is given of the database organization. Statistical analysis is carried out using the available data in order to find a correlation between biomechanics and the most relevant structural data. Finally, data relating to the most important "open" questions of the new procedure are presented and discussed in detail. (A)
