Abstract

Two roundabouts had been built in Australia prior to the 1970's. They are now being applied to a wide variety of traffic situations. In the art, roundabouts have been constructed in locations ranging from major arterial roads to local streets in industrial and residential areas. Their designs extend from the traditional to the very contemporary. A number of these are reviewed in terms of their convenience, safety and capacity.
