Abstract

Basically there are two approaches to studying driver behaviour which have an experimental basis. The indirect and the direct approach. The indirect method involves the extrapolation from non-driver-oriented research of findings which may be pertinent to the driving situation. In the direct approach actual driver behaviour research is conducted either on the road or in the laboratory in a simulator. Both methods are described
