Abstract

A test device has been built that consists of a mobile deformable barrier with the capacity to simulate different configurations and structural behaviors of various car front ends, using foam shapes of various density and moulding. With this barrier, a series of tests were carried out using a standing adult dummy as a pedestrian. The tests were aimed at generally reviewing and identifying the main factors contrib- uting to an effective reduction in pedestrian injuries.
