Abstract

A passenger compartment side structure system capable of resisting intrusion during side impacts, and hydraulic energy absorption systems capable of handling the kinetic energy release in a variety of front and rear impacts, have been designed, built and tested for the Experimental Safety Vehicle (ESV). A description of these systems is given.
