Abstract

The author outlines the role taken by the federal government in the development of a more crashworthy vehicle, thereby centering his presentation on a discussion of the experimental safety vehicle program, one of the programs presently occupying a major portion of NHTSA's resources. The first project which the program has undertaken is the development of a more crashworthy five-passenger family sedan.
