Abstract
Previous studies have shown that many moped and moped riders in the Netherlands do not make proper use of their helmet retention systems. The most common faults were far too much play in the chinstrap or even unfastened chinstraps. Hypotheses were formed about the relation between (the amount of play in) chinstrap use and the risk of the helmet coming off during impact.
