Abstract

The current trends in the society and in traffic and transport lead to an increasing congestion in traffic and to an increasing pressure on the environment. An inquiry was held to the expectations and wishes in the future (the year 2030) for traffic and transport. This paper discusses some of the questions regarding behaviour, policy, a lucrative rail (train) transport and the efficiency from the different transport modes in the urban and regional area. A clear shift from the car into other (public) transport modes is wanted, but the expectations that this will happen are rather small, due to the individual behaviour as well as the governmental policy.
