Abstract

Road Management Planning Expert System (RMPES) has been constructed as an aid to planning. Using this system the managers of a road district can plan the objectives for the organization as the technical characteristics of the road network and traffic, while simultaneously controlling the connections between measures, cost and conditions. RMPES presents the current state of road and traffic conditions by calculating summaries of the road data bank. Future circumstances are predicted using simulation models in which the control parameters are objectives set by a planner.
