Abstract

The concept of City Logistics is to develop a better urban freight transport operation and to identify transport policy measures that will reduce congestion and environmental impacts of urban freight and service operations, and which will also make freight and service transport operations more efficient. The proposing research is going to apply some advanced technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and GIS, to develop a potential solution for the urban freight logistics problems. This paper is the outset of a PhD research project, and the task at this stage is to identity an appropriate study topic which will benefit city freight activities. The availability of data, the internationalism of the problems and future expansibility of the research are the concerns. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no.
