Abstract

This paper briefly outlines a method to measure the conflict between pedestrians and cyclists (unprotected road users) and motorised traffic in a town centre. Junctions are selected at random and the traffic situation recorded by video. The recordings are examined to determine the degree of separation. Examples are given of the information obtained. The information provides a basis for determining where action is necessary.
