Abstract

The level of accidents reported plays a central role in the estimation of road safety. Were it is not realistic to assume that the proportion of accidents reported is constant during a fairly long period of time, it must be concluded that the ability to estimate road safety is seriously affected. in this chapter the extent of accident under reporting and some of its quantitative implications are summarized.
