Abstract

Through a review of literature, illumination and contrast requirements of visual signals as a function of certain observer characteristics are presented. A second part of this report deals with the effects of chemical agents on the visual processes. Its conclusion represents recognition of a growing awareness of the widespread use of alcohol and drugs.
