Abstract

In The Netherlands there are two types of moped: a ‘snorfiets’ and a ‘bromfiets’. The ‘snorfiets’ has a maximum speed of 25 km/h. There are however scooters and the faster category of mopeds, have a yellow** marker plate and can go much faster. These come under the category of faster mopeds (bromfiets). Someone riding a slow moped is unprotected in traffic. In a collision with another vehicle this person is more likely to be killed or injured in an accident than those in heavier vehicles. Their ability to avoid threats depends on the speed driven. (Author/publisher)
