Abstract

Aggregate that had been rated in laboratory paving mixtures for wear and polishing resistance have been examined for physical properties. A general correlation was found between the petrographic properties and the skid resistance of any given aggregate, skid resistance was higher for aggregates having mixed composition of hard and soft minerals than for aggregates consisting predominantly of minerals of the same type having the same hardness.
