Abstract
Information on driver/vehicle and passenger/goods miles are required as base data for many areas of road transportation: planning, road construction and traffic operation, accident evaluation, traffic safety, investment etc. It is advocated to base all future activities in relation to the establishment of statistics on driver/vehicle and passenger/goods on the following criteria: complexity, continuity, compatibility, coordination and concentration.
