Abstract

Fatal and personal injury accident data by highway system for 1970, compiled from reports submitted by the 50 States and the District of Columbia are summarised in tables. Data for all free and toll roads are included. 12 tables show fatal-accident, fatality, injury-accident and injury rates per 100 million vehicle miles of travel by highway system and State. One table relates the fatality and injury data to vehicle registrations, population and numbers of licensed drivers. The remaining 23 tables consist principally of the detailed information on which the preceding tables are based and show also revised data for the preceding year.
